ACTESA
ACTESA is a regional alliance which aims to develop efficient and effective regional markets for staple foods. It is intended that regional cross-border partnerships will strengthen innovative market institutions and link food insecure smallholder farmers with growing national and regional markets. It is a multi-partner initiative led by COMESA which arose through the recognition that the growing structural food deficits in staple foods cannot continue to be indefinitely met by food aid.
RTFP agreed in April 2008 to finance a member of the Design Team which has been given the responsibility of identifying target areas; implementation partners and specific interventions, following which they will draw up a programme design document.
